About Us

Welcome to Desert House Caravan & Camping, a family-run haven located in the picturesque town of Clonakilty, West Cork. For over 40 years, Desert House has been a cherished destination for those seeking a peaceful retreat in nature while enjoying the warmth and hospitality of a working farm.

Established in 1978, our caravan and camping park is set amidst the stunning backdrop of Clonakilty Bay. Originally starting as a simple field for horse-drawn caravans and tents, Desert House has grown into a welcoming destination with modern facilities while preserving its rustic charm. As a fourth-generation farming family, we are proud to blend the traditions of farming with a passion for hosting guests, ensuring every visitor feels part of our story.

The main house was a working farmhouse Bed & Breakfast for many years under the watchful eye of Dorothy and John who were renowned for their wonderful welcome and excellent breakfast! All of their five children were involved in both businesses growing up and made great friends and memories!

David, the youngest, remains farming here today and our family are also very lucky to have great memories of growing up in the caravan park and have made many friends over their childhood.

Many visitors have come and gone since the park opened, but most have returned time and time again and have become wonderful friends, and some even have become family!
